Afope is a fully certified trichologist (IAT) with over eight years of clinical experience. Her training also includes phlebotomy and clinical aesthetic treatments such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Mesotherapy. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Durham University and an MSc in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management from Imperial College Business School. In addition, she completed her Diploma in Cosmetic Science through the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, combining scientific depth with product development expertise across beauty, wellness, and clinical care.

Afope began her career formulating high-performance haircare products and has since led research and development for some of the most forward-thinking brands in the space. Most recently, she served as Head of Product at a leading VC-backed hair startup, where she oversaw the strategy and launch of multiple award-winning innovations. Her cross-functional expertise has also supported brands including Black Girl Fest, Gymshark, Unilever portfolio brands, RevAir, Curlsmith, and more.

She is a sought-after voice in the industry—known for making science accessible and empowering people to better understand and care for their hair and health. She has spoken at leading universities on women in STEM, featured on beauty podcasts and major media outlets, and has built an engaged online community passionate about science-led hair, beauty, and wellbeing.

Today, her focus is on advancing clinical trichology, reimagining the consultation experience, and expanding public understanding around hair, beauty, and wellness concerns. She runs a private trichology practice and continues to share evidence-based hair and wellness content across social media platforms.

Anticipating the future of beauty and wellness, she is currently developing an early-stage project exploring how material science and biotech can help meet the evolving needs of hair, scalp, and skin health.
