trichology consultations
from £200
Afope applies a holistic and thorough approach to trichological care.
Hair and scalp conditions often stem from deeper root causes - nutritional deficiencies, hormonal shifts, inflammatory triggers, or underlying health issues - that require a more comprehensive, multifaceted approach.
Accurate diagnosis and effective treatment may involve clinical assessments, blood tests, hair mineral analysis, and where appropriate, nutritional or medical input. But standard trichology services rarely connect these dots.
As a certified trichologist and cosmetic scientist, Afope offers clear, research-led support from day one. Diagnostic testing (blood work, mineral and/or gut health analyses) can be arranged either before or after your consultation. Where needed, referrals to trusted doctors and nutritionists can also be coordinated, ensuring clarity and personalised care without overwhelm.
Thorough diagnostics: microscopy, blood tests and hair mineral analyses where needed
Evidence-based insights: treatment plans grounded in current & trusted research
Tailored treatment: recommendations built with unique biochemistry, health & lifestyle in mind
Continuity of care: from initial consult through to specialist referrals where needed
diagnostic tests
Diagnostic testing is an integral part of Afope’s approach - used strategically to uncover underlying contributors and guide personalised treatment. The following tests may be recommended before or during your consultation, depending on your symptoms and history:
BLOOD TESTS
——
To assess key nutritional, hormonal, or inflammatory markers. These can be arranged via home finger-prick kits or venous draw at our partner lab.
HAIR TISSUE
MINERAL ANALYSIS
——
To to investigate mineral imbalances, heavy metal toxicity, or long-term
nutritional patterns.
GENETIC TESTS
——
To assess hereditary factors linked to hair loss or thinning
e.g. androgen sensitivity, inflammation pathways, detoxification issues.
GUT HEALTH TESTS
——
To explore possible digestive or microbiome-related causes impacting scalp health and inflammation, or hair loss due to chronic nutrient malabsorption
Blood tests
At checkout, you have the option to add-on an Essential Blood Test Panel (£130) covering a minimum of 3 key markers based on your symptoms and history. This is recommended if you haven’t had recent blood work (within 3 months), as it can help inform a more accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plan. Tests will be arranged via a home finger-prick kit or in-lab venous draw, and you’ll also receive guidance if you'd prefer to use your own doctor or provider.
Other diagnostic tests
Hair mineral analysis, gut health, or genetic testing may also be recommended based on your case. These can be arranged after your consultation if clinically appropriate, with clear guidance provided on next steps.
